President of Turkmenistan Invites South Korean Leader to Ashgabat Forum

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has invited President of the Republic of Korea Lee Jae-myung to participate in an international forum scheduled for December 12 in Ashgabat. The event will mark the International Year of Peace and Trust and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality. The invitation was extended during a phone conversation held on August 29, according to Turkmenistan’s official media.

At the beginning of the call, the two leaders exchanged congratulations and highlighted the strong mutual understanding in Turkmen-Korean relations. President Berdimuhamedov wished his counterpart success in his role as head of state. In response, President Lee expressed gratitude for the kind words and emphasized the strategic nature of bilateral ties.

The discussion covered a broad range of cooperation, including trade and economic partnerships, the implementation of major industrial projects involving Korean companies, collaboration in cultural and humanitarian fields, and joint efforts in international platforms, including the “Central Asia–Republic of Korea” format.

In conclusion, President Lee thanked President Berdimuhamedov for the invitation to Ashgabat and noted that Turkmenistan’s policy of positive neutrality enjoys broad support from the international community.
