Turkmenistan Aims to Increase Exports to China

Turkmenistan has proposed joint efforts to expand bilateral trade, including increasing exports of textiles, chemical industry products, agricultural goods, and petroleum products. President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov made the proposal during a meeting with Ding Xuexiang, member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and First Vice Premier of the State Council, held on Tuesday in Beijing, according to official Turkmen media.

During the meeting, both sides emphasized the strategic and long-term nature of Turkmen-Chinese relations. The Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee plays a key role in advancing this partnership by coordinating joint efforts and unlocking the full potential of trade and economic collaboration.

President Berdimuhamedov also proposed the launch of new joint projects in science, education, culture, and high technology, including artificial intelligence. These initiatives would involve institutions such as the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, the Oguz Khan Engineering and Technology University, and the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics.

In 2024, trade turnover between Turkmenistan and China totaled $10.6 billion. The bulk of Turkmen exports to China consists of natural gas delivered via pipeline infrastructure.
