Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Batyr Amanov met with Wang Hongzhi, head of China’s National Energy Administration (NEA), in Beijing on September 2 to discuss prospects for cooperation in the oil and gas sector and related industries, the NEA reported.
Wang emphasized that under the leadership of both countries' presidents, the Turkmen-Chinese strategic partnership is reaching a new level, with energy cooperation playing a central role in the practical dialogue between the two nations.
The Chinese side expressed its readiness to further deepen ties in the energy sector. Batyr Amanov highlighted the importance of the accumulated experience and successful joint projects, reaffirming Turkmenistan’s commitment to implementing previously reached agreements.
The meeting was also attended by NEA Deputy Director Ren Jingdong, Chinese Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ji Shumin, Turkmen Ambassador to China Parahat Durdyev, and senior officials from relevant agencies.
The talks were held as part of the official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to China to participate in the SCO Summit and commemorative events marking the 80th anniversary of the Victory in World War II.
The NEA is responsible for formulating China’s national energy strategy, implementing energy policy, and regulating sectors including coal, electricity, oil and gas, and nuclear energy.
