Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan Sign Broad Package of Bilateral Agreements

Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev concluded high-level talks with the signing of a Joint Statement outlining key directions for bilateral partnership and reaffirming both sides’ commitment to further strengthening cooperation, according to the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.

In the presence of the heads of state, a package of documents was exchanged aimed at expanding cooperation in trade, economic, and transport sectors. These include an agreement on the operation of the Uzbek-Turkmen cross-border trade zone, as well as a memorandum on cooperation in supplying railway wagons for transporting petroleum products and liquid chemical cargo.

A significant portion of the documents covers the humanitarian, medical, agricultural, and environmental agenda. Agreements were signed in healthcare and medical science, a cultural cooperation program for 2026–2027, a “Roadmap” for cooperation in forestry, and protocols supplementing intergovernmental agreements on emergency situations and road transport.

Special attention was given to interregional cooperation. Agreements were signed between Surkhandarya and Kashkadarya regions and the Lebap province administration, between Tashkent region and the Ahal province administration, as well as between the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the Dashoguz province administration. These documents aim to expand cooperation in trade, economic, scientific-technical, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
