On July 7, a meeting was held at the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan with Jim Newkirk, an international expert from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The main purpose of the meeting was to effectively assess the current state of long-term cooperation between the parties, the results of joint activities, and the achievements made. This was reported by the press service of the agency.

During the talks, the sides reviewed the activities of the port control units, joint training exercises, and high-level meetings. The importance of joint cross-border training exercises, and programs aimed at improving the language proficiency of customs officers was also highlighted.

At the meeting, significant attention was paid to the future areas of cooperation with UNODC for the next five years. The parties discussed the prospects of new joint projects and plans aimed at further strengthening the material, technical, and professional capacity of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan.
