The number of tourist packages to Turkmenistan has increased by almost 50%

Recently, the number of tourist packages for foreigners issued by Turkmenistan operators has increased by almost 50%. This was reported by the publication "Voice of the CIS", citing the words of the director of the Ashgabat tour company Bagtyýar Dostlar Ruslan Sadykov.

The growth is observed in comparison with 2018-2020. Group tour products to historical sites are especially in demand.

In general, according to the conclusion of experts from the World Tourism Organization, Turkmenistan is characterized as a region with great potential. And this is proven in practice by the keen interest of tourists in local sites included in the UNESCO World Heritage List: Ancient Merv, Nisa and Kunyaurgench.

So-called combined tour packages to Central Asian countries are currently popular among tourists from China, the USA, South America, Australia, European countries and the Russian Federation. During such tours, the territories of Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan are visited. As a result of these routes, tourists can see all the sights of the Great Silk Road.

The director of the travel agency reported that, within the framework of innovative directions, familiarization and informational tours are organized for representatives of tour operators from Russia.

“At the expense of our company, directors of Russian tour operators who are engaged in outbound tourism are invited to Ashgabat. We show our colleagues the fashionable hotel infrastructure in Avaza, our modern cities, various tourist routes and logistics. So that in the future they can describe in more detail, and not by hearsay, to a potential Russian travel lover what an amazing and beautiful country - Turkmenistan is like,” said R. Sadykov.

At the moment, up to 130 travel companies operate in Turkmenistan. The source notes that the growth of tourism in Turkmenistan is ensured thanks to the “Program for the Development of International Cooperation in the Tourism Industry for 2024-2025,” approved by the President of Turkmenistan.
