Turkmenistan is establishing paper production from waste from cotton harvesting

It is expected that in Turkmenistan, about 240 thousand tons of waste from cotton harvesting will be sent for processing for further paper production. This was reported on the website liga-pm.ru with reference to the portal of the CIS Executive Committee.

The production of paper products from local raw materials, namely from agricultural waste and textile recyclables, is being established within the framework of the State Import Substitution Program. This makes it possible to produce paper products with a whiteness of over 85% for the production of premium paper and books.

According to the head of the department of the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan, Batyr Berdyev, the strength of cotton paper is superior to that of wood. In the future, it is planned not only to produce paper from this raw material, but also to extract lignin, which will become an important component in the production of cement and asphalt, the source notes.
