Turkmenistan and Iran discussed expansion of cooperation in various fields

On February 11, 2025, a delegation from Turkmenistan, headed by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov, arrived in Tehran on a working visit.

During the visit, meetings were held with high-ranking representatives of Iran, during which topical issues of bilateral cooperation in various fields were discussed.

At a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Head of the Transport Industry and Development Company Houshang Bazvand, the parties noted the successful experience of cooperation in the construction of roads in Turkmenistan and expressed interest in further expanding the partnership.

Prospects for cooperation in the oil and gas sector were discussed with Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad. The parties emphasized the existence of significant potential for interaction between the two countries in this area.

At a meeting with the Minister of Energy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Abbas Aliabadi, the discussion focused on cooperation in the field of electric power and the rational use of water resources. The parties confirmed their readiness to intensify interaction and noted the importance of coordinated work between the relevant departments of the two countries.

The visit of the Turkmen delegation to Iran continues, which indicates the desire of both countries to strengthen and expand mutually beneficial cooperation.
