Today, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who is on a working visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan to participate in the first Central Asia-European Union Summit, met with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Having warmly greeted each other, the heads of the two neighboring states expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to discuss the current state and priority aspects of the further development of traditionally friendly, fraternal bilateral relations.
Noting that he was sincerely glad to meet with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Samarkand, a city with an ancient history, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude for the invitation to participate in the first Central Asia-European Union Summit and wished all planned events to be successful, and also thanked for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to the delegation of our country.
As the head of Turkmenistan emphasized, the Republic of Uzbekistan is our sincere friend and close neighbor, with whom effective cooperation is carried out in various fields. Taking this opportunity, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov conveyed to his Uzbek colleague warm words of greeting and best wishes from the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Hero-Arkadag.
Having thanked the head of Turkmenistan for accepting the invitation to visit Samarkand and take part in the first summit meeting in the “CA-EU” format, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also conveyed cordial greetings and best wishes to Hero Arkadag, while noting the progressive, constructive nature of the interstate dialogue.
During the meeting, the interlocutors noted with satisfaction that at present, Turkmen-Uzbek relations, distinguished by a high level of trust and mutual support, are developing dynamically in a wide range of areas, including agriculture, electric power, the oil and gas complex, the chemical industry and other sectors.
Particular attention is paid to the formation of transport and energy corridors, strengthening interregional ties, as well as joint work to address pressing issues of sustainable development and ensuring stability in Central Asia. In this context, confidence was expressed that the current Summit will be an important step towards a closer and mutually beneficial partnership between Central Asia and the European Union.
It was also noted that business contacts between the business circles of the two countries have noticeably intensified recently. Taking advantage of the opportunity, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov once again thanked President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his great personal contribution to the development of interstate dialogue.
At the end of the meeting, the heads of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan expressed confidence in the further strengthening and expansion of traditionally friendly, good-neighborly Turkmen-Uzbek relations, wishing each other good health and success in government activities, and well-being and prosperity to the fraternal peoples of both countries.
