In the first quarter of this year, the growth rate of works and services in the transport and communications sector of Turkmenistan reached 118.4%. This was reported by the Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers Mammetkhan Chakyev at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, TDH writes.
According to the presented report, cargo transportation by road, rail, air, sea and river transport increased by 4.3%, and passenger transportation increased by 1.4% compared to the same period last year.
The highest growth rates were demonstrated by the Türkmenhowaýollary agency with a result of 126.5% and the Türkmendeňizderýaýollary agency - 125.5%. The growth rate of services rendered by the agency "Türkmenaragatnaşyk" was 122%, "Türkmenawtoulaglary" - 110.4%, and "Türkmendemirýollary" - 107.1%.
During the meeting, information was also presented on the measures taken within the framework of the implementation of the "Concept for the Development of the Digital Economy in Turkmenistan for 2019-2025".
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, having heard the report, emphasized the importance of further effective work on the development of the national transport and communications complex and the full use of the international transport and transit potential of the country. The head of the Agency was given specific instructions in these areas.
