Turkmenistan Explores Deeper Cooperation with Leading South Korean Banks

Turkmen delegation held separate meetings on April 18, 2025 in Seoul with executives from Kookmin Bank and the Export-Import Bank of Korea (K-Exim) to explore prospects for expanding cooperation in the banking, healthcare, and industrial sectors, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Korea reported.

During the meeting with the Chairman of Kookmin Bank, the Turkmen side was represented by Rahimberdi Jepbarov, Chairman of the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs, Deryageldi Orazov, Chairman of the State Committee for the Construction of the City of Arkadag, and Dovrangeldi Sapbaev, Head of the Turkmenhimiya State Concern.

The delegation expressed Turkmenistan’s interest in enhancing collaboration between the financial institutions of both countries and proposed considering a framework agreement on cooperation. Kookmin Bank representatives responded positively and expressed readiness to explore possible areas of partnership.

Special attention was paid to the involvement of South Korean companies in developing the medical cluster in the city of Arkadag.

On the same day, the Turkmen delegation held discussions at the Export–Import Bank of Korea headquarters with President Yoon Hee-sung and senior executives, focusing on potential cooperation in strategic sectors including natural gas, the chemical industry, and healthcare.

The Turkmen side expressed readiness to maintaining constructive engagement with South Korean financial institutions.

On April 18, 2025, the State Committee for the Construction of Arkadag City under the President of Turkmenistan and Korea Meditech Co., Ltd. signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Seoul.
