PETRONAS CEO at TEIF 2025: Turkmenistan’s Energy Importance Growing

At the Turkmenistan Economic Investment Forum (TEIF 2025), PETRONAS Group President and CEO Tengku Muhammad Taufik Tengku Kamadjaja Aziz praised Turkmenistan’s growing role as a global energy hub and the long-standing partnership between PETRONAS and the country.

Tengku Taufik highlighted Turkmenistan’s strategic historical position on the Silk Road and its modern transformation into a key energy player through abundant resources and forward-looking policies. He noted the country’s strong economic performance, including a 6.3% GDP growth in 2024 and projected 6.5% in 2025, supported by industrial development and digital integration.

CEO of Petronas also emphasized PETRONAS’s nearly 30-year presence in Turkmenistan, citing milestones such as the first offshore production-sharing agreement and the launch of the Kiyanly gas processing plant and terminal — capable of handling 5 billion cubic meters of gas and 2.4 million tons of condensate annually.

Turkmenistan Economic Investment Forum (TEIF 2025) opened this week in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur.
