On April 23, the International Forum on Attracting Foreign Investments into the Economy of Turkmenistan (TEIF 2025) officially opened in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur. The two-day event, running through April 24, has brought together representatives of leading national and international energy companies, as well as experts shaping the future of Turkmenistan’s oil and gas sector and the broader region.
The forum is organized by the State Concerns "Turkmengas" and "Turkmennebit," along with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan, in partnership with the NGO "Turkmen Energy Forum." The main goal of TEIF 2025 is to expand opportunities for attracting direct foreign investment across Turkmenistan’s energy, transport and communications, construction, and financial sectors, while also strengthening regional dialogue on the sustainable development of the energy industry.
According to the forum's first-day agenda, the morning session is dedicated to thematic round tables. From 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., two key discussions are taking place. The first round table, titled “The Future of Hydrocarbon Production with Artificial Intelligence: Unlocking Oil and Gas Reserves”, focuses on innovative technologies and the potential of AI in the oil and gas industry. Participants are exploring how modern technologies can contribute to the more efficient development of the country’s abundant hydrocarbon resources.
Simultaneously, a second round table is being held on the topic “Prospects for Developing the Economic and Investment Potential of Turkmenistan and Malaysia: Focus on Education, Tourism, and Entrepreneurship.” This session addresses bilateral cooperation and new opportunities for investors across various sectors beyond traditional energy collaboration.
The official opening ceremony and plenary session are scheduled for the afternoon. High-ranking representatives of the governments of Turkmenistan and Malaysia, as well as executives from major international companies and financial institutions, are expected to participate.
