2025: Turkmenistan to Participate in SCO Summit in China

Turkmenistan is expected to take part once again as a guest country in the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, scheduled to be held in Tianjin, China, in the fall of 2025. The country’s regular participation in SCO events highlights Ashgabat’s interest in strengthening regional cooperation, as reported by Turkmenistan’s state media on Wednesday.

According to SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev, the final list of participants is determined by the host country. Traditionally, Mongolia attends the Council of Heads of State meetings as an observer, while Turkmenistan participates as a guest of the presiding country.

The Secretary-General also emphasized that, 24 years after its founding, the organization has become a significant player in international affairs, strengthening its role in ensuring peace, stability, and promoting a just world order.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is an intergovernmental international organization established in 2001 with the aim of strengthening mutual trust, ensuring stability, and promoting multilateral cooperation in the Eurasian region. Its members include major Asian countries such as China, Russia, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, and Belarus.
