In a public address, permanently neutral Turkmenistan on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Victory, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that in the era of the Revival of a new epoch of a powerful state, war and labor veterans play a significant role in the country’s development, in fostering patriotism and courage among youth, and in strengthening national unity and solidarity.
More than 100 Turkmen citizens were awarded the title of Hero for their courage on the battlefield. Thousands were decorated with combat orders and medals, including Berdimuhamed Annayev, the great-grandfather of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and grandfather of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, whose life path is regarded as a model of patriotism and valor for Turkmen youth.
Notably, the 80th anniversary of Victory is being celebrated in a year that also marks another significant milestone for Turkmenistan — the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality.
