President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held talks Wednesday in Ashgabat with Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik, CEO of Malaysian oil and gas corporation Petronas, who is visiting the country. During the meeting, the Turkmen President affirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to consider concrete proposals aimed at expanding the already positive cooperation into new areas.
According to official Turkmen media, President Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the ongoing talks would give fresh momentum to relations between the two countries.
The President also underscored Turkmenistan’s interest in strengthening ties with Malaysian companies across various sectors, including the economy, transportation, education, and culture.
For his part, the Petronas CEO said it was a great honor for the company to operate in Turkmenistan and reiterated its commitment to implementing future projects in the country.
During the meeting, both sides identified the fuel and energy sector as a key area for future collaboration. The talks concluded with mutual reaffirmation of the commitment to strengthen beneficial and long-term cooperation.
In April of this year, the State Concern Turkmennebit and PETRONAS Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn. Bhd. signed a Memorandum of Understanding to deepen cooperation.
