Turkmenistan is strengthening international cooperation in the oil and gas sector, as highlighted during a series of meetings held Wednesday at the Garagum Hotel in Ashgabat, according to Turkmen official media.
The discussions brought together senior officials from Turkmenistan's state concerns Turkmengaz and Turkmennebit, alongside representatives from Malaysia’s Petronas and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), who are currently visiting Turkmenistan.
The heads of Turkmengaz and Turkmennebit met with top executives from Petronas, a long-term partner in Turkmenistan, to review key issues in the development of bilateral energy relations.
Turkmen officials also held meetings with a delegation from ADNOC, focusing on the current state of cooperation and future prospects in the oil and gas industry. The UAE delegation reaffirmed its strong interest in expanding multi-faceted collaboration with Turkmenistan, citing the country’s stable economy and commitment to international obligations.
Later, a broader international meeting was convened with the participation of UAE energy officials, Petronas representatives, and Turkmenistan’s fuel and energy leadership. The event centered on assessing ongoing cooperation and outlining future areas of engagement.
As a result of the meetings, several bilateral agreements were signed. These included cooperation documents between Turkmennebit and both Petronas Carigali Turkmenistan and ADNOC Turkmenistan Limited. A separate agreement was signed between Turkmengaz and the same two companies, underscoring a mutual commitment to advancing strategic energy partnerships.
On the same day, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik, head of the Malaysian oil and gas corporation Petronas; Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology of the United Arab Emirates and CEO of ADNOC; Suhail Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure; and Ahmed Al Sayegh, Minister of State at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
