Turkmenistan Expands Digital Trade with Support from EU, ITC

The International Trade Centre (ITC) held a seminar in Turkmenistan on May 13–14 aimed at advancing e-commerce and enhancing the country’s preparedness for accession to the World Trade Organization. The event marked a key milestone in ITC’s technical assistance efforts and a step toward Turkmenistan’s integration into the global digital economy, according to official state media.

The seminar was conducted as an open dialogue, bringing together representatives from government institutions, the business community, and international experts. Discussions focused on trade digitalization, e-commerce tools, and international standards essential for accessing global markets.

The project is implemented by the ITC with financial backing from the European Union. The four-year program, titled “Turkmenistan: Enhancing Trade Resilience and Integration,” aims to improve the business climate, strengthen the country’s export potential, and foster trade ties between Turkmenistan and the EU.

The initiative seeks to support the country’s economic development and expand its participation in regional and global trade by boosting competitiveness and adopting modern digital solutions.
