Masoud Pezeshkian: Iran Seeks to Expand Cooperation with Turkmenistan

Iran is interested in deepening bilateral cooperation with Turkmenistan across a wide range of sectors, including economic, cultural, investment, freight transport, and transit, said Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian during a meeting with Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov on May 20, 2025 in Tehran, Iran, as reported by Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry on Tuesday.

Pezeshkian said increased joint investment between the two countries would help ensure the long-term prosperity of both nations.

Iranian president Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov highlighted the high level of cooperation in transport and transit, as well as the importance of boosting collaboration within international and regional initiatives. In this context, they discussed an international conference scheduled for December of this year, convened at the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people.

The sides confirmed their mutual readiness to further expand the strategic partnership for the benefit of the peoples of Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov participated in the Tehran Dialogue Forum 2025, held on May 18-19 in Iran’s capital, Tehran.
