On May 31, 2025, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Kyrgyz Republic organized a bicycle ride in the city of Bishkek on the occasion of World Bicycle Day, which was established by a resolution of the United Nations General Assembly upon the initiative of Turkmenistan.

The event was attended by representatives of governmental and public institutions, heads and staff of diplomatic missions accredited in the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as members of the media.

Prior to the start of the ride, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Kyrgyz Republic addressed the participants. In his remarks, he emphasized that the event, held in an atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding, reflects broad international support for the initiatives of neutral Turkmenistan aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles, peace, and constructive cooperation among nations.

The symbolic significance of World Bicycle Day as an expression of solidarity, unity, and sustainable development was underlined. It was noted that Turkmenistan, by consistently promoting the principles of neutrality, humanism, and good neighborliness, contributes meaningfully to the development of international dialogue and humanitarian cooperation.

The Ambassador expressed sincere gratitude to the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Mayor’s Office of Bishkek, and the Kyrgyz Republic’s Cycling Federation for their comprehensive support in organizing the event.

Participants of the bicycle ride highly appreciated Turkmenistan’s initiative to advance sports diplomacy as an effective instrument for strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations. It was further noted that the bicycle movement in Turkmenistan has become an integral part of national policy in the fields of public health and ecology, with mass bicycle rides becoming a well-established tradition.
