Turkmen Foreign Minister Holds Meeting With Prime Minister of India

Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov took part in a collective meeting of Central Asian foreign ministers with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, according to Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry.

During the meeting, participants emphasized the importance of open and constructive dialogue between India and the Central Asian states, especially at the highest level of government.

The discussion highlighted the vast potential for expanding trade, increasing investment, and implementing joint projects in sectors such as transportation, energy, industry, high technology, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals.

Particular focus was placed on the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) gas pipeline, with participants underscoring the need to revitalize efforts toward its realization as a strategic regional initiative.

The importance of enhancing transport connectivity between India and Central Asia was also stressed, including integration with the Middle East, the Caspian region, and Europe. The International North-South Transport Corridor was identified as a key component in future logistics cooperation.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to deepening political and diplomatic engagement and expanding trade and humanitarian exchanges between India and Central Asian nations.
