Turkmenistan reinforced its commitment to international labor cooperation by holding high-level meetings with the International Organisation of Employers (IOE) and the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) on the sidelines of the 113th Session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva, according to the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the United Nations Office in Geneva.

Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Turkmenistan, Muhammetseyit Sylapov, met with IOE Secretary-General Roberto Suárez Santos to discuss ways to expand cooperation. The sides explored opportunities for technical support and the involvement of national employers in international processes. Turkmenistan reaffirmed its readiness for further engagement and emphasized the importance of joint initiatives and business participation in advancing social reform.

During a meeting with ITUC General Secretary Luc Triangle, discussions focused on strengthening tripartite cooperation among the government, employers, and trade unions. The parties addressed steps to enhance dialogue and the potential membership of Turkmen trade unions in the ITUC. The growing activity of national trade unions in both international and regional platforms, as well as their contribution to shaping the country’s social policy, was noted.

Earlier, on June 4, during the plenary session of the conference, Minister Sylapov delivered a national statement affirming Turkmenistan’s commitment to the principles of decent work, social justice, and effective partnership. He underscored the relevance of the ILO’s global agenda and its alignment with Turkmenistan’s long-term strategic priorities outlined in the National Program for Socio-Economic Development through 2052.
