Turkmenistan Opens Airspace to Rerouted Flights Amid Regional Tensions

Turkmenistan has granted emergency landing rights to several foreign airliners that were forced to alter their routes due to heightened tensions in the Middle East, as reported by Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry on Saturday.

Aircraft from FlyDubai (UAE), Jazeera Airways (Kuwait), S7 Airlines (Russia), and other carriers—carrying passengers from Central Asia, the Middle East, India, Russia, and other countries—were permitted to land at Ashgabat International Airport after regional airspace disruptions.

Passengers were provided with three hot meals a day and access to medical services. Crew members were offered proper rest conditions in accordance with international civil aviation standards.

The move reflects Turkmenistan’s commitment to its policy of permanent neutrality and international humanitarian principles, as outlined in the UN Charter and universally recognized norms of international law, the statement said.

Officials described the swift action as a demonstration of the country’s dedication to solidarity and support in times of regional crisis.
