Parliamentary Forum of Landlocked Developing Countries Held in Avaza

On Monday, the Parliamentary Forum was held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone as part of the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3). The event served as an important platform for dialogue among parliamentarians, government officials, and representatives of international organizations.

Participants emphasized the crucial role that parliaments of landlocked developing countries play in implementing the new Programme of Action, including the allocation of resources, monitoring of progress, and attracting investment in sustainable infrastructure. The forum also highlighted the need to enhance international support, including through parliamentary diplomacy.

The event was organized by the Mejlis of Turkmenistan in cooperation with the Office of the UN High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries, and Small Island Developing States, with the support of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

The forum was attended by parliamentarians from LLDCs, representatives of international organizations, and official delegations from participating countries.

It is worth noting that 32 landlocked developing countries, home to more than 500 million people, face shared challenges related to their geographic location, which significantly impacts their economic connectivity with the rest of the world.
