On August 15, 2025, Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, Begench Durdyev, held a brief conversation with South Korean President, Lee Jae-myung, during events marking the 80th anniversary of Korea’s Liberation Day.

During the meeting, the ambassador conveyed warm congratulations and heartfelt wishes on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, on the occasion of the national holiday.

In response, the South Korean side expressed appreciation and asked that their greetings be conveyed to the Turkmen leadership.

Liberation Day, celebrated annually on August 15, commemorates the restoration of Korea’s independence. The holiday is a national event, marked by official ceremonies and public celebrations.
